House Window Shutters
In years past, outside window shutters provided a level of security and privacy to buildings and their inhabitants as well as air ventilation and a measure of climate control. Exterior window shutters with hinged panels and movable louvers allowed families to control the amount of sunlight and heat they let into their homes, especially before the advent of indoor heating and cooling systems. Although today's outside window shutters can still be functional, they are largely used as ornamental accessories on the exterior of houses. One of the most common styles of outside window shutter is the Colonial. South Florida Aluminum manufactures a variety of Colonial styles that look like real wood but are made from durable aluminum.
Customize Outside Window Shutters to Match Your Architecture
Colonial shutters typically consist of one panel (also called a leaf) on each side of the window. If the panels are for decorative use only, they will be fixed on the exterior of the building. If functionality is preferred, the leaves are affixed with a side hinge on the outer edge of the panel. Customization of the shutters to match your home's architecture is possible through the use of recessed paneling, tongue and groove planks, the addition of blades or louvers, and cut-out designs. Customers may also choose a combination of designs and a rounded-arch top for their panels.
Though we are located in Florida, customers all over the country can order South Florida Aluminum products. We are happy to offer a build-and-ship option to contractors and customers who are outside of our installation area.
